12 Days Desert Tour and Imperial Cities from Casablanca
Day 1: Casablanca - Rabat
Visit to the Hasan Mosque II and later we will leave towards Rabat. Visit to the city of Rabat and its main monuments: Alcazaba of the Oudaias, the Mausoleum of Mohamed V and the Hassan Tower. Dinner and overnight in an hotel.
Day 2: Rabat - Meknes - Volubilis - Moulay Idriss - Fez
After breakfast, we will set off to Meknes. On the way we will visit the Mamora forest before reaching Meknes, a city that reached its apogee thanks to the Sultan Moulay Ismail. 27 km from Meknes we will find the most important archaeological site in Morocco, Volubilis, declared by Unesco as a protected area. We will also visit the holy city of Moulay Idriss and then we will continue towards Fez. Dinner and overnight in an hotel.
Day 3: Fez (guided tour)
Day that we dedicate to the discover the city of Fez, that was for centuries the cultural and religious center of the Western Islamic world and declared World heritage by Unesco. Its labyrinth streets, structured by craftsmen's guilds: potters, dyers and the bustle of its people will transport you into centuries ago, because it is a medieval city that lasts 1200 years after its foundation, a real wonder. Dinner and overnight in a Riad.
Day 4: Fez - Ifrane - Middle Atlas - Midelt - Ziz Valley - Merzouga (Desert)
The time comes for the Atlas. Not far from Fez we will cross Ifrane, a residential center, before reaching the forests of cedars of the Middle Atlas. After crossing Midelt, a surprising change of landscape awaits us: the road crosses the Middle Atlas and we quickly enter the Great South. The earth becomes arid, except for the deep valleys like the Ziz Valley, with enormous green spots in the middle of the desert. We will begin to observe the architecture of adobe, palm trees and some distant Kasbahs. We will be at the gates of the desert. We will arrive to the impressive dunes of Merzouga and, after the hospitality tea, we will leave our bags in the rooms and climb the dunes to watch the sunset. Dinner and overnight at an hotel.
Day 5: Merzouga (Desert) - Khamlia - Merzouga (Desert)
We are already in the desert! After breakfast, we will discover the Erg Chebbi, an expansion of desert of large fine sand dunes where the Great Dune of Morocco is located, over 300 meters high, connecting by track with part of the route followed by the old Paris-Dakar, with mountains bordering Algeria in the background. We will stop at the Oasis of Tissardmine and continue to a nomadic settlement where we will have the opportunity to know some of the secrets and ways of life of the Berbers. Later we will stop at a panoramic point where we will be able to contemplate the Erg Chebbi. The next stop of this tour will be Khamlia, a village whose inhabitants are originally from Mali, where we will relax with a tea while enjoying a small concert of spiritual music of Gnawa, traditional of this town. We will return to the hotel to eat and after a break we will leave in a camel caravan, for about an hour and a half journey, that will take us to the camp where we are staying. In the middle of this journey, we will stop to watch the sunset and stretch the legs before following the way until arriving at the camp, where the tea of the hospitality is waiting for us, as it is the custom. Dinner and night in nomad tent in the heart of the desert under a spectacular mantle of stars.
Day 6: Merzouga (Desert) - Rissani - Erfoud - Todra Gorges - Dades Valley
We will wake you up before dawn to watch the sunrise and return with the camels to the hostel, and afterwards have shower and breakfast. We will leave towards Rissani to visit its market, the most important of the south, where all the nomads of the desert go to make their purchases. Then, we will continue towards Erfoud where we will visit a fossilized marble factory and continue our journey towards the palm groves of Touroug and Tinejdad. We will reach one of the strong points of the south: the Todra Gorges. The Todra river bed has formed a gorge of vertical walls of enormous proportions and of great beauty, it is the paradise of the climbers and a unique place. We will have lunch on site and a half an hour walk to see the gorges. In the afternoon we will continue towards the Dades Valley, passing through Boumalne. Dinner and overnight in the Dades Valley.
Day 7: Dades Valley - Roses Valley - Kalaat M'Gouna - Skoura - Ouarzazate
After breakfast, we will go up to the highest point to see the gorges from above and return to the Dades Valley and to the Kasbah of Ait Youl where we will turn right for a track that will allows us to admire less known landscapes. There we will visit a family that still lives in caves in the Boutagrar Valley. We will continue along the Roses Valley until we reach Kalaat M'Gouna. We will have lunch in the village and then we will cross the palm grove of Skoura, until we arrive in Ouarzazate. Dinner and overnight in an hotel.
Day 8: Ouarzazate - Ait Benhaddou - High Atlas - Marrakech
After breakfast, the morning will be dedicated to visit Ouarzazate: the Kasbah of Taourirt, the Kasbah of Tifoultoulte and its famous film studios. Then we will leave for the fortified village of Ait Benhaddou, where we will visit its famous Kasbah (declared World Heritage by Unesco). This is a spectacular setting and film location for renowned films such as Gladiator, Astérix & Obélix, Sahara and The Jewel of the Nile. We will also stop for lunch and then we will continue towards Marrakech via the highest mountain pass in Morocco, the Tizi n'Tichka pass. We will stop to visit an Argan Oil Cooperative, where we will discover the process of extraction and learn its innumerable benefits for the human body. Arrival in Marrakech at 6:00 pm, free time to discover the famous Jemaa el-Fnaa Square with free dinner. Accommodation in a Riad.
Day 9: Marrakech (guided tour)
After breakfast, in the morning, we will visit the city: the Menara and Majorelle Gardens, the Saadian Tombs, the Bahia Palace and the impressive Koutubia Mosque with its famous Minaret contracted by the Almohads. Lunch and free afternoon to enjoy the charm of the Jemaa el-Fnaa Square. Accommodation in a Riad.
Day 10: Marrakech - Essaouira
We will leave Marrakech towards Essaouira, formerly known as Mogador. Essaouira has suffered its conquest by numerous people, from the Romans to the Portuguese, not forgetting the Arabs and the Berbers. Due to this history, Essaouira keeps countless vestiges of these people, either in the form of monuments or in the customs of its people. We will admire its medina and the Portuguese fortifications of the XVIII century. Essaouira is known for its artists who work the thuya, the port, the islands.
Day 11: Essaouira - El Jadida - Casablanca
We will continue via the Atlantic coast on our way to Casablanca and enjoy a beautiful and unspoilt landscape of beaches. We will stop at El Jadida where we will have lunch before heading to Casablanca. Accommodation in a hotel.
Day 12: Casablanca
Breakfast and transfer to the airport according to your flight schedule and end of our services.
